Spring Break

Seoul, Korea was our Spring Break destination.  On the plane we ended up sitting in front of some other students from school also heading "home" for the break.

We had the perfect location for an Airbnb.  One airport express ride to a central station, walk one block and batta-boom-batta-bing, we were home.  All the sights were within a subway stop or two.  Sometimes we took the subway but mostly we walked and walked and walked.  The boys kept track of our steps on my phone.

Love the old/new mixed together!

See this tower?  Namsan Tower. We hiked from our Airbnb to the bottom of this hill and then hiked all the way to the base of it.  Now it may not look too far to you but. . . it was a bit of a distance and all uphill!

The top is a popular place for lovers, or anyone who wants to buy a lock and place it along the many fences/barriers to commemorate either their love, trip, reward for making it to the top, or whatever.

Along our journey were stopping points, which both helped and depressed us as we realized how far we still had to go.  One stop brought a yummy breakfast with some of our favorite Korean products, banana milk, and aloe drink.

Look closely we still have 1160 km to go!

This stopping point was a exercise park.  Boys, who minutes before, complained about legs hurting found they had plenty of energy to run around and try each contraption.

Lane and Amber enjoying the exercise park.  😏

What trip would be complete without checking out a market or three?  So far Korea has been my favorite food trip.  I personally didn't have a meal I didn't like.

Korean BBQ.  Yum!

Gyeongbokgung Palace

Renting traditional Korean clothing immensely added to the charm of this place.

Guardians keeping watch.  Numbers equal importance.

Ninja Duncan

Love these old locks!  Some of which are huge!!

Often we are the ones asked to be in photos, this time we asked these ladies to join the boys.  Much to the boys' embarrassment!

Changing of the guards.

This man created the Turtle Boats.  Pretty awesome!!

Turtle Boat.  Completely armored, think submarine floating on water.

Sites around the city.

It is hard to see what this is, but this was just outside our place and the boys frequently went to play here.  There is a doorway (see the yellow strip on the ground) leading to steps that take one into a pit of various stairs.  On the top left you can faintly see the steps that lay under the metal stripes.

Guy was a huge help in carrying little one around!  Drake is fast asleep taking his afternoon nap.

Grahm caught the high speed train just as it was going by!

Plus lots and lots of Geocaching.  Previous family records broken while on this trip.

I believe there are eight of these city gates.

Namsangol Hanok Village

A village established just for us tourists to see traditional homes, buildings and activities.
